Jolic named head Zebra
27May08
THE Whittlesea Zebras have wasted no time replacing former coach Peter Ollerton, announcing Ivan Jolic will take the reins for the rest of the Victorian Premier League season.
Jolic, who played with the Zebras in 2003, spent seven seasons in the National Soccer League with the Melbourne Knights.
The Zebras have struggled this season after losing several players from last season's Grand Final side.
Ollerton, who had taken over as manager midway through last year and guided the team to a Grand Final defeat against Preston, pulled the pin two weeks ago over what he said were a range of issues.
Ollerton had been publicly critical of his team throughout the season and is understood to have struggled to attract the players he wanted for the club to rise.
Whittlesea has only 12 points from 13 matches and sits precariously in 11th position on the ladder, marginally clear of Western Suburbs, Fawkner and Frankston.
Jolic will work alongside assistant-coach Paul Harris, who will try to guarantee the Zebras' survival in the top grade of VPL.
The Zebras had a bye at the weekend with their scheduled clash against the AIS moved to Canberra on July 5.
