Whittlesea Zebras zooming

Zebra Jerry Karpeh scored two goals.

A GOAL in each half from Jerry Karpeh has moved Whittlesea Zebras six points clear of relegation zone after 19 rounds of the Victorian Premier League.

The Zebras made the long road trip to Canberra for their rescheduled Round 14 game and produced arguably their best performance on the road since the 3-1 victory over Altona earlier in the year, keeping a clean sheet in walking away with a 2-0 win.

The win moves the Zebras to 21 points and 10th position on the ladder, equal on points with Coburg United, but ahead on goal ratio.

The club will be delighted to be making some inroads in what has been at times a tumultuous season which included the resignation of coach Peter Ollerton.

Other clubs had a bye this round, with Whittlesea set to face the recharged Richmond Eagles in Round 20.

The Eagles have dropped to fifth on the ladder after stumbling in their last few games.

Whittlesea has a chance to dent any Eagles finals hopes if it can secure the upset win.
